Born and raised in Philadelphia, Wasiyma Young navigated a landscape marked by hardship and adversity. Through the transformative power of poetry, she found a means to express her emotions and reshape her reality, crafting vivid images of hope amidst the challenges of violence and poverty. This creative outlet became a lifeline, leading to a journey as a freestyle recording artist. With over 400 spontaneous recordings, Wasiyma captures the raw essence of her experiences, channeling emotions into lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners.

                •             “It’s okay, new change of the weather; it’s so easy, I’ll just take the coat off and now I’m cold…”

                •             “Call me a black cat… discriminated against; barrier of bad luck; her enemy is a bitch, best friend’s a witch, which only explains the conflict.”

                •             “I feel like I used to love you, but now I don’t even understand you; I’m going to keep on trying because one day you will be back again… hopefully.”

                •             “That old good feeling that you remember while you’re sleeping; it ain’t left me yet, even though it’s been a couple of days since I’ve been laying next to you… I still feel you.”

Wasiyma is also the creator of Itsalllovve, a YouTube channel where she interviewed local entrepreneurs and talents, showcasing their contributions to the community. Each episode incorporated a community service initiative, with Wasiyma and her team cleaning parks and public school yards, reinforcing the importance of giving back.

In addition to her media endeavors, she hosts a pop-up play day tour, visiting local playgrounds to provide engaging workshops in dance, art, football, and basketball. These events not only foster creativity and physical activity but also include park clean-ups and the donation of recreational equipment for kids to enjoy.

Since 2023, Wasiyma has been operating the FinLit215 financial literacy program, teaching her self-created curriculum to afterschool programs and juvenile facilities. This initiative aims to empower young individuals with essential financial knowledge and skills, helping them build a secure future.

Now, as a proud parent of a 17-year-old son and an entrepreneur, Wasiyma has taken a bold step forward in her writing journey. She is venturing into new literary realms, driven by her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in creative writing.

Her upcoming series, Echoes of Heritage, promises to explore themes of identity, resilience, and community. Through this work, Wasiyma aims to foster connection and support, inviting readers to join in an exploration of shared experiences and cultural narratives.
